The 1940s

OUR COMMUNITY GROWS

WWII INFLUENCES OUR PRIORITIES

In 1941, only eight years after Fr. Prislopsky arrived at a financially strapped church, the mortgage was burned.  World War II influenced our priorities. Many of our young men were called to serve.

In 1946, the Jr. Women’s Club was organized. Fr. Prislopsky had in mind a means by which the young matrons of the parish could take part in its progress.

In 1948, Fr. Prislopsky was appointed Dean of the Russian Orthodox Churches in Ohio, a position he held and served until his death. The Ohio Deanery was one of the leading deaneries in the fold of the Orthodox Church in America.

Through their hard work and devotion, parishioners were able to purchase a permanent parish home.
