Today is the Sunday of All Saints, a day in which we acknowledge and honor those righteous individuals who faithfully lived, served, and honored Christ with diligence and excellence. Committed men and women, young and old, of every class, position, rank, and distinction, who held every conceivable occupation, those whose efforts are known and catalogued, as well as those individuals known only to God – heroes of the Christian Faith. Their struggles and commitment are amplified by today’s epistle lesson which outlines the worldly obstacles and suffering endured; providing an example for us to follow as we struggle to bear our own cross through life.
Therefore, we look to the Saints of the Church not only as intercessors, but more importantly, as “measuring sticks” to our own lives; true examples of how we should adhere to, commit, and defend the Christian Faith in our own day and age just as they did in there’s.
