It must be remembered that the church temple is a holy place; it should never be construed as a concert hall and our liturgical services are not performances. We gather together within this holy space to specifically direct our attention towards God. Therefore, the choir – and in the case of a wedding, those being wed – are not the center of attention. Although we might be invited to witness this blessed event (i.e. two Christians being untied into one flesh through the Sacrament of Marriage), the honor and glory of that moment belongs to God. Therefore, since there is a time and place for everything, our church temple remains a house of prayer and a time to specifically leave the outside world – and all worldly actions – outside its doors.
