Grace does not bring despair, but it continually brings to repentance a person who has fallen.

The grace of the Spirit is one and unchanging, but energizes in each one of us as He wills. When rain falls upon the earth, it gives life to the quality inherent in each plant: sweetness in the sweet, astringency in the astringent; similarly, when grace falls upon the hearts of the faithful, it gives to each the energies appropriate to the different virtues without itself changing.

Evil is not an actual substance, but absence of good; just as darkness is nothing but absence of light.

The grace of the priesthood is one thing, the grace of the great schema is another, the grace of the Mysteries is different, and the action of grace in ascesis is also different. It should be the same for you who are about to shoot the head of the wicked devil. Let us be concerned first for the good order of sensations and then for the good posture of inner thoughts.

The life of a man is leavened with afflictions and torments. When you see a little joy in your soul, know that it is a phone call telling you to endure the affliction that will come.

Grace always precedes temptation, as if to notify you saying, 'Prepare yourself and lock your doors.'

Neither does the grace of the Holy Spirit remain in us without our obeying the commandments, nor can obeying the commandments be useful and salutary without Divine grace.

Where there is Grace, the fount of life, there good works come from the heart.

He who fears God will pay careful attention to his soul and will free himself from communion with evil.

The rainfall of grace of a single day provides enough water for the things planted in the soul for the entire period that grace leaves.
