Give. Pray. Get involved.
Together, we can help bring water, hope, and the love of Christ to Pokot.
In a remote region of Kenya called Pokot, Orthodox ministry is just beginning. Douglas Lopenyo, a native of Pokot and recent graduate of the Orthodox Seminary in Nairobi, is working to establish an Orthodox community among his people. Soon to be ordained a priest, Douglas is already serving the community through catechism classes and a growing feeding program.
What began with 40 children has grown to more than 150. Shoes and clothing have also been provided, but one need remains urgent: clean, reliable water.
Today, members of the community must travel more than 4 kilometers to carry water from a small spring. A borehole drilled approximately 450–600 feet underground, together with a solar pumping system and water tank, could provide clean water close to the community.
This is more than a water project. This is a beautiful opportunity to reach beyond our own walls and become truly joined in Christ with this new mission parish in Pokot. Together, we can build a relationship rooted in faith, prayer, fellowship, and love—sharing our gifts and learning from one another as we grow together in Christ. It is an opportunity to share the love of Christ through action—providing for a community while helping an Orthodox mission take root and grow. Help us dig the well that can transform a village.
