“MOVIN ON”–RELOCATING FROM UNION TO MILL

After devoting his life to the Orthodox faith, delivering a young parish from financial difficulty, engaging the men and women of the parish in spiritual growth, and creating a love of the church in the youth of the parish, Fr. Vladimir Prislopsky fell asleep in the Lord on September 23, 1970. The search for a new priest began and  Fr. Nicholas Gobora, associate pastor of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Minneapolis was chosen and assigned in February of 1971. The deterioration of the neighborhood was leading to an unsafe atmosphere. A decision was made to move the parish to a new location. The Union Avenue location was sold in 1975, along with St. Michael’s Hall in 1976. New property in Broadview Heights was purchased on Mill Road and the week of January 26 was “Movin On” week with scores of parishioners packing, dismantling and removing articles and furniture from the church.

Construction began on the Broadview Heights property in August 1976 and the new Church edifice was complete in May of 1977.
