This morning’s gospel lesson might have been extremely short and succinct, but it contains a powerful message and a treasure of vital information regarding the Christian Faith. Within six charged verses, Jesus sets the tone and standard for Christian character: treating one another with respect, demonstrating love, compassion, and mercy… even to our enemies, forgiving those who wrong us, and being charitable.
Attaining and maintaining these attributes is how our Lord expects us to live, promote, and perpetuate His Holy Gospel; influencing others to come out of the darkness and into the light. Because either we are doing our utmost to carry our cross, stand our ground, and live our Faith in the hopes of influencing the world, or we are allowing the world is influence us!
