A DECADE OF CHANGE
A SISTER PARISH IS FORMED
Realizing the size of his congregation (well over 1200 souls), and the fact that the younger generation was moving out of the old neighborhoods and into the suburbs, Fr. Prislopsky guided St. Michael’s in the building of a “sister” parish in Maple Heights which was dedicated to the First-Called Apostle Andrew.
In January 1964, preliminary plans were drawn up, and finally on September 10, 1967, the groundbreaking was held and the building began.
Rev. John Klembara, a son of St. Michael’s parish, was appointed rector of St. Andrew Eastern Orthodox Church on August 1, 1968. The first Divine Liturgy was held on September 29, 1968.
